Annie Barley Givler began playing the cello at the age of two. After graduating from the Pittsburgh High School for Creative and Performing Arts, Annie went on to study Cello Performance at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. After graduating with her Bachelors of Music, Annie attended the University of South Florida where she earned her Masters of Music degree in both cello performance and music theory. Annie is in high demand as a Suzuki cello clinician and leads workshops all over the world. She is at home teaching students of all ages and abilities– ranging from Mommy and Me infant music classes to cello performance majors at the university level. For the past ten years, Annie has worked as a curriculum developer, music teacher, and strings specialist for the KIPP national network of charter schools – first in the South Bronx, then in North Philadelphia, and finally in Camden, New Jersey. As a performer, Annie is an incredibly versatile cellist and has played in ensembles ranging from professional symphony orchestras to Kanye West’s back up band. She maintains a private cello studio in Bryn Mawr where she lives with her husband Harley and their three, awesome kids. Annie can be heard on Bridge and New Amsterdam Records.
